Ahi Tuna Roll
This roll was inspired after being introduced to poke in Hawaii last summer. This is a yummy dish to serve as an appetizer.
Spiciness 6/10
Prep Time: 1 hour (marinade tuna overnight)
Serves 3-5 ppl
Ingredients
Ahi Tuna - 2 steaks
Sushi grade rice - 1 cup
water - 1/2 cup
rice wine vinegar - 1/2 cup
Sesame oil - 2 tbs
Carrot - 1-2 pcs shredded
Seaweed - 4 rolls
spicy black bean paste
soy sauce - 2 tbsp
fish sauce - 1tbsp
lemon - 1 freshly squeezed
Directions:
1. Marinate ahi tuna steak in a bowl mixed with fish sauce, soy sauce and lemon juice. Cover with plastic wrap and keep in refrigerator overnight.
2. In pan drizzle sesame oil and sear tuna for 2-5 minutes just to get the cover brown. Then slice it into thin pieces.
3. Prepare rice in rice cooker with water and when rice is almost done add rice wine vinegar and set aside to cool (let it be warm). Once rice is warm mix it with shredded carrot and spicy black bean paste.
4. This is the time to roll sushi. In a rolling mat place seaweed, rice mix, tuna and kimchi (optional). Roll and slice.
